forgotten pleasures of yesteryears..

त्यांचे गुलाब-जाम आले. a look on the extremely happy two little faces said it all.

@Raj,
yup, childhood is indeed s'thing tht e'one loves & wants - be they nostalgic or sentimental. :)

@Rayshma,
yeah, my mom asks me too. and many a times, i get pampered even now, without asking. :)

@Priya,
tu US madhe shikat aahes na? mag sutti milel ki tulaa.

@Circuit,
yeah, the post does seem to be a little cryptic. have not given the references - like i was sitting at "Aaswaad", a small upahaar-gruha, at Shivaji Park, yesterday morning - was having my brunch - on my way to office - when the 2 kids walked inside along with their mom - and sat at the table next to mine. you should have seen the happiness on their cute little faces when they saw those gulab-jams. :)

@Dhananjay,
thanks for the name of the school - i thought it must be Balmohan too, but wasnt sure.

@Nandan,
thanks :)

@Snehal,
have fun with your 'bhache company'. you'll forget all your office work. ;-)

@Anand,
yeah. such things instantly take us back to our own childhood. and u are like "ohh.. those were the days..." :)

---

when i was writing this post, i was reminded of all the fun i used to have on the day when the final exams would get over & summer vacations would start. would get some money from home on the day of the last paper - hit the school canteen, have a vada-pav or samosa-pav, a cold drink (thums up or seven up), or an orange/mango candy. then cycle back home. make plans of playing cricket, badminton on that very day.

summer vacation also meant a lot of fun. go to mumbai to my mama's place @ mumbai. play cricket. sleep in the afternoons. eat mangoes. rent vcr n watch movies. s'time in between, the final results would be out. have home made ice-cream. have bhel n pani puri. read books n comics (s'how i never bought any story books during school days - but wud get them only during vacations)

as the vacation drew closer to its end, get new textbooks n books. new uniform, new shoes, new school bag, new rain-coat every other year. spend an evening with the whole family putting brown paper covers on all the books.

gosh! i miss those vacations.
will ask my boss - can i take one in this summer? :D

the bigger Q is - will i get that innocence back? and will i be happy with the same trivial, forgotten pleasures? :)

Its a nice n cute post, making nostalgic. :-) Even i remembered those days now. I used to get excited to know that now I can read the book that i had to control reading during exams. So there was nothing stopping me from reading those books. :-))

ketan, tuzya comment chya shevatacha sw'gat awaDala. :)

I would say, get married, and very soon get lots of kids! then, wait for their summer vacations, and become a bachcha with them that time. I m sure that's the only way, you'll get to enjoy those summer months once again. ;)

@Vidya,
yeah - its difficult to hold back frm doing wot u want/love to do, and are not allowed. but s'how, as a child, u do listen to the elders n actually do it. :)

@Jaswandi,
u r lucky - u r getting a 1-1.5 months vacation!!

@Dhananjay,
yeah - i was actually late that day - usually reach office by the regular 9.30-9.45 window - woke up late that day (9am) - maybe, i was just destined to watch those kids :D

@Circuit,
"hari om!!!" guess, i'll have to wait a few years before I can experience that. ;-)

@Vibha,
thanks for your comment! :)

Tushar - thanks for posting the original abhang. Here it is in Devnagri:
